Dunton Bassett Primary School PTA is a non-profit voluntary group - our main aim is to fundraise for the school so we can provide new and improved resources and facilities for our pupils, which would not usually be provided or covered by the Local Authority. In order to achieve this, we run a number of events - for the whole school throughout the year. We strive to build on the ethos of the ’school family’.
The second half of the year is generally busiest - with usual events in previous years being a Halloween disco, Craft fair, Breakfast with Santa and a Christmas Fair. The summer months allow time for the family BBQ and summer fair as well as PTA support to the Sports Day.
New members are always welcome, as are offers of support at the events, please get in touch!
At the time of writing we are just days away from the Summer Fair, on Saturday 15 June which this year runs in partnership with the Dunton Bassett Open Gardens weekend.
Pupils have decorated tin planters which hang proudly on the school railings and the fair is set to be packed full with more events than ever before lost of stalls, games and entertainment. We are delighted to be running a raffle in conjunction with the Open Gardens event, with great prizes - including a £50 gift voucher from www.experiencedays.co.uk - do please buy your raffle tickets, to be in with a chance of being able to book an experience from a great choice of days out!
Friday 21 June is the date for the school Sports Day which will feature special entertainment provided by the PTA - watch this space for photographs and reports from the last two events of the year.
PTA News in 2018/19
A few new faces joined the committee in 2018, as we said goodbye to a few members who have moved on. It was fantastic to see the superb trim trail in the back playground completed as well as the playground markings which make a great colourful entrance to the school as well as great educational and fun resources for the children at break times.
The year so far …
We ran a successful Christmas craft event with more stalls than ever before, and made even more special by the opportunity to meet Santa and have story time. This was preceded by the school craft session which was a lovely opportunity for pupils to make their parents a special (hopefully secret!) gift.
Just days later saw our busiest Breakfast with Santa event, the children all received a present and a great time was had by all. December also saw Class 1 and 2 perform their Christmas play where the PTA purchased new costumes which were very gratefully received and looked fantastic.
As in previous years, the PTA funded the Pantomime trip - Beauty and the Beast was this years performance enjoyed by the whole school.
The new year continued to be busy with Mother’s and Father’s Day craft events, a successful Bunny Bounce Easter activity as well as the ever popular half term disco open to the whole school.
The PTA helped the school to rejuvenate their library by purchasing new books from the School Book Fair for each class. Children and teachers were delighted with the new additions.
The village hall was packed with support at our Quiz Night - teams were treated to a testing quiz and lovely home cooked food, a good evening had by all!
None of these events would be possible without the continued support of parents, staff, volunteers, pupils as well as ongoing support from local businesses as well as generous support from ASDA and Tesco. The events in 2018/19 have already raised over £1,600 with the figure set to rise before the end of the term, which is fantastic - thank you very much!
During the 2018/19 term the events have enabled the PTA to fund over £7,000 to support the school and enrich the pupils experiences. Please continue to support our events, and volunteers are always welcome (and much needed!) at all events.
